A guided space to become more rooted in God, understand how He has uniquely created and gifted you, and grow in recognising and responding to His voice.
This journey begins with identity, not achievement.
START WITH WHAT IS ALREADY TRUE
Before asking, “What should I do next?” begin somewhere deeper.
Who does God say I am, and what does it look like to live from what is already true of me in Christ?
Because calling begins there. Not with striving for the right answer, but with becoming rooted in God’s character and learning to live from the identity you have already received in Jesus.
From that foundation, you’ll begin paying attention to how God has uniquely created and gifted you, growing in familiarity with His voice, and noticing what He may be placing in your hands to steward in this season.
Boldly Rising is not about manufacturing certainty or figuring out your entire calling. It is about staying close to God, discerning His invitations, and responding with the next faithful step.
You don’t need the whole path before you begin walking. You need to know the One who leads you.
From Striving to Rootedness

1. ROOTED IDENTITY
Know God’s character more deeply, recognise false narratives, and learn to live more securely from what is already true of you in Christ.
2. HEARING GOD
Grow in familiarity with God’s voice and become more attentive to the ways He may be speaking.
3. GIFTS
Notice patterns in your gifts, strengths, passions and limitations, and explore how God may be inviting you to steward them.
4. CALLING & DISCERNMENT
Develop a more freeing biblical understanding of calling and practise discernment around decisions, desires, opportunities and new seasons.
5. FAITHFUL ACTION
Identify one courageous next step and establish rhythms that help you remain rooted beyond the course.

MY STORY
Why I Created Boldly Rising
Boldly Rising was created from a place of uncertainty—not from having everything figured out.
After nearly a decade as an English professor, I entered a sabbatical expecting a season of rest and space to discern what might come next. I assumed God would eventually lead me toward another version of the life I already knew. Instead, He began asking me to lay things down.
As my plans shifted, God began uncovering places where my identity had quietly become intertwined with my work, achievement, and the version of success I had learned to value. What I thought would be a season of figuring out what was next became a much deeper journey of surrender, healing, identity, and trust.

In that season, I began to understand calling differently. I stopped seeing it as a destination I needed to discover or a perfect decision I could somehow get right, and began seeing it as a journey I walk with God—learning to know His voice, recognise what He has placed in me, and respond faithfully to what He is asking of me now. That shift is woven throughout Boldly Rising.
The practices inside this course are not theoretical. They grew out of my own journey of sitting with Scripture, confronting false narratives, listening for God, exploring gifts, surrendering plans, and learning to discern His invitations in seasons when I could not see the whole road ahead. Your course materials explicitly describe the sessions and exercises as work you have personally walked through yourself.
Boldly Rising grew out of that season—and out of the practices God used to teach me how to stay close, listen, surrender, and take the next faithful step.
